We generally think of the universe as encompassing everything that exists despite the fact that physicists speculate the existence of multiple universes. According to Brian Green, it would only take a tiny black hole, a dash of reverse gravity and a lot of luck" for any of us to build our own universe, or at least, the laws of physics dont rule it out.
My work is a series of vain attempts to create a new universe, a self-contained reality. Photography, in particular, lends itself to this. A photograph exists outside of our experience of space and time; it is similar to what it depicts, but not the same, with its own laws and reason.
